Fires up north kept us more west and less north and we spent a bit more time on ferries and west coast islands than usual making this about 3k shorter than a typical 3-week adventure.
Heading home involved waiting out a massive cold weather system that brought cold rain and some snow to mountain passes. We spent a night in Harris Hot Springs and a second night in Hope BC. Even then we saw 4-5 degrees and rain at some passes. Rambo First Blood was shot in Hope and the town still pays homage to the movie and Stallone.
Camping and hiking at Bere Point on Malcolm Island, BC was a trip highlight. At certain times of the year Orcas can be seen right from the campground. No such luck for us but it was great nonetheless.
Ferry from Prince Rupert to Vancouver Island
Haida Gwaii was a great, relaxing experience. We’ve noted that we need to come back with colder-weather capable camping gear. We lucked out with the weather (for this time of year)…. low winds, highs of 8-11 degrees. Too cold to camp for us so we got a beach-front cabin.
Invaluable tool on road trips. Charge the battery pack while you ride/use your wireless devices then charge them at camp. This unit can charge 3 devices simultaneously.
